Professor Lin Jiaping said that with the development of AI and other emerging technologies, the research and development of new materials is gradually shifting from the "experience trial and error" stage to the "intelligent manufacturing" stage. The polymer material genome research and development platform is an achievement of big data, artificial intelligence and polymer material research and development.

"compared with the artificial chemical synthesis of polymer materials in the laboratory to verify their performance, this method of virtual design and high-throughput prediction can greatly improve the efficiency of research and development of new materials." Lin Jiaping said.

According to reports, the team has built a database of resin structure and properties and a database of chemical reactions between groups, containing nearly 150000 pieces of performance data of more than 30,000 polymers and nearly 1.4 million pieces of chemical reaction data of 58516 elementary reaction templates. On this basis, the team created a machine learning prediction model for more than 10 properties of polymers, so that the platform has many functions such as data retrieval, performance prediction, formulation optimization and so on. And their team has developed a series of advanced composite matrix resins. For example, the curing temperature is less than 300 degrees Celsius, 5% of the thermal decomposition temperature is more than 650 degrees Celsius, the glass transition temperature is more than 600 degrees Celsius, easy to process silicon naphthyne and silicon fluorine alkyne resin, new polysilynimide resin with high temperature resistance and high toughness, and so on. These new resins have been evaluated by relevant scientific research institutions for the properties of composite materials and components, which have met some of the needs in the field of high-performance polymer materials in our country.
