Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens OC_Formula and Wu Yanzu in South China for their clue delivery! CTOnews.com March 23 News Yu Yuanlin, general manager of Asustek computer China, posted a video on Bilibili. It is revealed that AMD will launch the TR5 platform for the next generation of Sharon Thread Ripper 7000 "Storm Peak" series CPU in the second half of 2023.

While the AMD Threadripper 5000 series was indeed successful, leading to a sharp drop in Intel's server market share, things have changed significantly in the past month with the release of the Sapphire Rapids series by Intel.

Thanks to Intel's leading features and a stronger modern platform, the AMD Threadripper 5000 series has shown signs of failing, especially since the WRX80 or WRX40 series do not support functions such as PCIe Gen5 interfaces and DDR5 memory.

According to Asustek Yu Yuanlin, AMD will now launch its new TR5 platform in the second half of 2023 as a successor to the Threadripper series AMD TR4 platform. We expect Intel to also launch the Emerald Rapids-SP series in the fourth quarter.

According to previous revelations, similar to Intel Sapphire-WS, the AMD "Storm Peak" series of Threadripper 7000 processors will be divided into two product lines: HEDT and WS.

The HEDT series can support four-channel DDR5 memory and has 64 PCIe Gen5 channels, while the more advanced Threadripper 7000 PRO should be able to support eight-channel DDR5 and provide up to 128 PCIe Gen5 channels, while details such as the number of cores or TDP have yet to be confirmed.

At present, AMD has not confirmed their plans to launch Zen4 in the workstation market, and even the consumer-grade AM5 Auron 7000 series has not even launched PRO products for the business market, so the rumors that Threadripper will be released in 2H 2023 still need official confirmation, and CTOnews.com will bring further reports.

AMD HEDT: Threadripper 7000 (5nm Zen 4) / 4 Channel DDR5 / 64 PCIe Gen 5 / 4096 SP6 slot

Intel HEDT: Xeon Wmai 2400 (10nm Golden Cove / 4 channel DDR5 / 64 PCIe Gen 5 / LGA 4677 slot

AMD WS: Threadripper 7000 (5nm Zen 4) / 8 channel DDR5 / 128PCIe Gen 5 / 6096 SP5 slot

Intel WS: Xeon Wmai 3400 (10nm Golden Cove / 8 channel DDR5 / 112PCIe Gen 5 / LGA 4677 slot
