Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com March 22-CIRP today released its latest research, which looks at how users dispose of their old smartphones.

The survey showed that iPhone users and Android users handled their old phones differently when buying a new one.

The survey included the following six approaches:

trade-in

sell

reservations

Gift to relatives and friends

Lost/stolen/damaged

recovery

The results show that most iPhone users trade in their old devices because of their better value, while only 14% of Android users do so. A total of 50% of iPhone owners chose to trade in or sell their old phones, while 23% chose to keep their old phones and 13% chose to give them to friends and relatives.

CTOnews.com notes that 54% of Android users have chosen to keep their old phones, more than twice as many as iPhone users. Android users are also less likely than iPhone users to sell or give away to friends and relatives.

One detail of the survey is that 15 percent of new iPhone buyers are switching from Android, which the researchers say may be due to the low trade-in value of Android phones, making this option less attractive. Also, there may be some Android to iPhone users who want to keep a familiar backup device in case they fail to bring all their contacts, photos or notes to their new iOS device.
