CTOnews.com, March 22 (Xinhua)-- according to the latest opinion poll, 31% of Americans still will not consider buying an electric car as their next car. At the same time, only slightly more than 1Compact 3 Americans said they were willing to consider buying an electric car.

The United States is vigorously promoting the development of electric vehicles, and President Joe Biden hopes that by 2030, 50% of all new cars sold will be pure electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.

A seven-day Reuters / Ipsos poll, which ended on Monday, found that 34% of respondents were open to buying electric cars, while 31% said they would not consider doing so. The survey also showed that Democrats were more likely to choose electric cars, with 50% saying they would consider doing so. The figure is only 26% among Republicans and 27% among independents.

The survey also showed that 56 per cent of respondents were unwilling to pay more than $49999 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 343000 yuan) for an electric car, compared with the basic Tesla Model 3 starting at $42990 in the US. About 35 per cent of respondents also expect electric vehicles to travel more than 500miles (804.67 kilometers) after each charge, a target few cars can meet.

However, 37 per cent of respondents said they wanted to drive at least 300km (482.8 km) after each charge, and many electric vehicles, such as Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E, have reached that range.

The survey was conducted online, with 4410 participants across the United States, with a confidence interval of between plus and minus 2 to 3 percentage points.
