CTOnews.com March 22 news, GNOME 43.5 maintenance version update was released recently. This maintenance update adds support for 32:9 scale displays, improves the display order of Display panels in the settings, and reduces the video memory footprint of part of the GPU in Muuter 43.4.

In this update, the Epiphany (GNOME Web) browser was upgraded to version 43.1, fixed the URL error coding problem copied from the address bar, and fixed the CVE-2023-26081 vulnerability in versions prior to 43.0.

GNOME Boxes virtualization software supports OVF installation media format, better handles the import of original images, correctly parses input from IEC devices, and uses mime types when validating OVA files in version 43.4.

CTOnews.com learned from reports that this update also fixed memory leaks in GNOME Shell (43.4), GNOME Software (43.5), Mutter, Epiphany, and Nautilus.

The GNOME team plans to release GNOME 43.6 maintenance updates in mid-April. The GNOME team also released GNOME version 42.10 today, the 10th and last maintenance release of Branch 42. Support for GNOME 42 is currently discontinued.
