CTOnews.com March 22 news, Uncle Party @ OreXda said yesterday that Nintendo will use a new generation of NVIDIA Tegra chip on the next generation mainframe, which will be based on Samsung 5LPP technology.

He later updated that the 5nm Tegra chip originally planned for Nintendo had been abandoned a few days (or months) ago, and Nvidia subsequently switched the series to a 8nm-based automotive chip platform, from Atlan to Thor.

It is worth mentioning that the Tegra T239, which was previously revealed for Nintendo's next-generation Switch, has been found in public Linux kernel updates and is still being updated, with engineer samples dating back to April 2022.

According to previous intelligence, the Nvidia Tegra Orin chip is much better than the chip used in the current Nintendo Switch. The Orin chip is based on the Ampere architecture, with 2048 CUDA cores of GPU and 12 ARM Cortex-A78AE cores of CPU, but we think the version of the game console will be different.

Nvidia Tegra X1 currently used in NS was released in March 2015. The process is that TSMC 20nm Tegra 15W CPU uses 4 1.9GHz Cortex-A57 cores and 4 1.3GHz Cortex-A53 cores. GPU is based on Nvidia Maxwell architecture, 256cores, frequency 1GHz.

As far as CTOnews.com knows, in addition to the Nintendo Switch, Tegra X1 devices include the Nvidia Shield and Google Pixel C Android tablets. However, Nintendo Switch's built-in Tegra X1 is a castrated version, and four A53s are disabled at 1.02 GHz, which is lower than the full Tegra X1 1.9GHz.
