CTOnews.com March 22 news, according to CNNC news, China Nuclear Power Corporation's China Nuclear Power Investment holding Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 4 today poured the first can of concrete on the nuclear island, marking the full opening of the second phase of the Sanmen nuclear power project.

CNNC said that after the completion and commissioning of two units in the second phase of the project, the total installed capacity of Sanmen nuclear power will reach 5 million kilowatts, with an annual generating capacity of 40 billion kilowatt hours, equivalent to 30 million tons of carbon dioxide reduction per year, which will effectively promote the adjustment of Zhejiang's industrial structure and energy structure, and support the security of East China power grid and regional energy supply.

Specifically, after Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 4 is completed for power generation, this unit alone will be able to release 10 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 7.5 million tons, equivalent to nearly 20,000 hectares of afforestation.

CTOnews.com learned from the energy production announced by the National Bureau of Statistics that from January to February 2023, thermal power and hydropower changed from increase to decline, the growth rate of nuclear power slowed down, and the growth rate of wind power and solar power accelerated, of which nuclear power increased by 4.3%.
