CTOnews.com, March 21 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- according to a recent internal email from Amazon, the company expects engineers to use their own ChatGPT-like artificial intelligence tool, CodeWhisperer, an artificial intelligence coding assistant that can respond to natural language queries like ChatGPT.

According to CTOnews.com, CodeWhisperer was developed by the cloud computing division of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and was first launched last year. Designed to generate code recommendations based on previous code and comments, similar to Github's Copilot. ChatGPT is a more general-purpose chat robot, but it is also widely used in similar programming-related tasks.

"Amazon CodeWhisperer is an AI-based coding assistant that provides real-time advice based on your existing code and comments in IDE." An internal email titled "start using Amazon CodeWhisperer today" said, "with CodeWhisperer, you will get code completion of the entire line and complete functions when writing code, or you can simply write a natural language comment, such as' get new files uploaded in the last 24 hours from the S3 bucket 'and CodeWhisperer will automatically generate code for you."

According to CTOnews.com, Amazon has recently been relatively quiet in AI productivity compared with Microsoft, Google and Meta, announcing a major partnership with OpenAI competitor Hugging Face only last month.

It is worth mentioning that Amazon announced yesterday that it would cut another 9000 jobs in the coming weeks, less than four months after it announced 18000 job cuts in November last year.
