Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, March 21 (Xinhua)-- Ingka, which manages most of Ikea's stores, issued a press release saying it would use 100 drones to take inventory during non-business hours.
It is reported that Ikea began working with Verity, a drone manufacturing company, in 2020, taking the lead in deploying and testing drones in stores in Switzerland.
CTOnews.com learned from the report that Ikea said the drone program had achieved remarkable results, extending it to Ikea stores in 16 countries and regions, including Belgium, Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.
Ikea says drones can help employees count goods faster, making the workplace more ergonomic and eliminating the need for manual inventory.
The drone works by taking off from a charging station and then going to each pallet in the warehouse to capture images, videos and 3D depth scans of objects. After the work is completed, no one will return to the charging station to download the collected data. Drones can not only count inventory, but also help employees determine if anything is missing or misplaced.
