Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, March 21, 2008. Microsoft pushed cumulative updates for Win10 and Win11 systems during Patch Tuesday event last week. Win11 users reported that this month's update had problems such as installation failure and slowing down SSD transmission speed, while now Win10 users also reported that there were many problems, including installation failure, blue screen and so on.

Microsoft released KB5023696 cumulative updates for functional updates such as Win10 Version 22H2, and users reported problems such as performance degradation and blue screen after installing the update.

One of the users reported that this update led to an increase in equipment load, equipment overheating, increased fan speed, noise and other problems. Users contacted Microsoft and Dell after sales, but never received a reply.

The user left a message on Feedback Hub:

I didn't run any intensive tasks, but the fan was still running at full power after a few minutes. Fan operation returns to normal after uninstalling the update.

I am using a Dell 5490 all-in-one with Win10 22H2 installed, and I contacted Dell and Microsoft about this, but they have not provided any reply about the cause / solution.

Another user left a message:

Everything is fine during the installation of KB5023696, but a blue screen failure occurs shortly after entering the home screen. The Win10 system restarts automatically and looks normal again.

KB5023696 is listed as successfully installed under the quality update, but it is not in the uninstall update list.

CTOnews.com visited Feedback Hub, Reddit and Microsoft Answer forums and found that there were 0x800f081f, 0x800f0984, 0x800f0922 and other errors in the installation of KB5023696.
