CTOnews.com, March 21 (Xinhua)-- South Korean aerospace startup Innospace said today that its self-developed suborbital test launch vehicle "Han Guang-TLV" (Hanbit-TLV) took off from the Alcantara Space Center in northern Brazil, and the development capability of small satellite launch vehicles has been verified.

The single-stage rocket, which is 16.3m high, 1m in diameter and weighs 8.4t, was test-fired from the Alcantara Space Center in northern Brazil at 02:52 South Korean time on Monday, carrying the inertial navigation system Sisnav developed independently by the Ministry of Aerospace Science and Technology of the Brazilian Air Force, the company said. It successfully verified the flight performance of the engine and its payload, and finally ignited for 106 seconds. Crashed into Brazilian waters after a flight of 4 minutes and 33 seconds.

According to Yonhap news agency, "Han Guang-TLV" is South Korea's first private rocket, which is a test project developed to verify the performance of the first-stage engine of "Han Guang-NANO", a commercial carrier rocket used for small satellites, capable of carrying 50 kg payload.

It is said that the company plans to test-launch Han Guang-NANO next year and provide a paid launch service from 2024.

In fact, Innospace has made several attempts to launch Hanbit-TLV since December last year, but has been delayed many times because of poor weather conditions and technical problems. After that, the inspection and rectification work was completed on the 15th of this month, and was launched.
