According to news in the morning of March 21, Beijing time, the US Department of Justice reportedly sued Google in a case related to Google's search business. Google said in court documents that it did not deliberately destroy evidence.

Last month, the US Department of Justice sued Google, accusing it of failing to keep internal chat records. Google told U. S. investigators in 2019 that it had banned the deletion of employees' internal instant messaging records, but Google didn't actually do so. In Friday's filing, Google said it had made "reasonable" efforts to keep communications records.

The US Department of Justice and more than 30 states have demanded sanctions against Google, accusing it of maintaining its search monopoly by illegal and exclusive means. Google denies the charges. The case was submitted in 2020 and will be heard in September this year.

The Justice Department asked District Judge Amit Mehta to hold a hearing on the sanctions, but the court has not yet arranged it. Last year, the Justice Department asked the court to sanction Google on the grounds that Google blocked too many documents, but Mehta rejected the Justice Department's application.

In the latest sanctions application, the Justice Department sees frank discussions among internal executives as an important and rich source of information, some of which may even be court witnesses, and Google deletes written records every day, hurting US interests.

Google disagrees, claiming that the law accusing Google of taking steps to block plaintiffs' access to information is unfounded and has disclosed millions of documents and vast amounts of data as part of the lawsuit.
