CTOnews.com, March 20 (Xinhua)-- Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft Xbox, first revealed a few weeks ago that the company plans to launch its own mobile game store to better compete with Apple and Google. He talked more about the plan in the latest interview with FT.

Spencer said Microsoft would take advantage of the EU's digital market bill. The bill will force Apple and Google to open their iOS and Android mobile operating systems to third-party app stores from March 2024. Spencer said they wanted to bring their Xbox games and other publishers' games to all types of screens. "Today, we can't do that on mobile devices, but we want to build a world where we think these devices will be open," he said.

Microsoft's plan to acquire Activision Blizzard will also be linked to its plans for a mobile game store, saying that if the deal goes well, it is "vital" to be able to provide mobile games such as call of Duty: mobile, Diablo: immortal and Candy crushing Legend. He did not say how long Microsoft will be able to launch third-party mobile stores, but he said it is "very pretty trivial" to provide Xbox games and its Xbox Game Pass services on smartphones.

According to CTOnews.com, for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the Xbox Cloud Gaming service has enabled Android device users to play more than 100 games through Microsoft's Xbox Android app, and even iOS users can access the service through the Xbox website on Safari browsers.
