Kia's first all-electric model, the EV6, will be imported and is expected to go on sale in August. The first Chinese-made global model, the medium-sized pure electric SUV EV5, will go on sale in November this year. In addition, Kia plans to launch Kia's flagship electric SUV EV9 in 2024 and a high-end electric sedan based on a new generation of electric vehicle platforms in 2026.

At the meeting, three new electric models, EV5 concept car, EV9 concept car and EV6 GT, were unveiled. Among them, the design of the EV5 concept car is inspired by the unity of opposites design concept, in which the front face adopts the new digital tiger whistling design and the door-to-door design, and the mass production version will be launched in China in November this year.

The Kia EV9 concept car is a large SUV built by Kia. The new car is based on the E-GMP pure electric platform, and the official map has announced that the mass production version will be available in China in 2024. The new car is equipped with solar panels to recharge the car. The new car uses a door-to-door design and is equipped with electronic rearview mirrors, but these design elements are not retained in mass-production models.

The EV9 concept car has a longer length than 5000mm and a wheelbase of 3100mm. It is located in a large SUV in pure electricity, and the interior is designed with 3 rows and 6 seats. The first and third rows of seats can be rotated, while the second row of seats can be folded into tables. In the power part, the EV9 concept car has an 800V high voltage fast charging system, and the charging power can reach 350kW. It is worth mentioning that as Kia's first model equipped with highway autopilot system (HDP) in China, the future mass production version of EV9 is expected to be equipped with L3 autopilot system.

In terms of energy replenishment, Kia New Energy officially cooperates with Shell in charging pile services. In the future, Kia's all-electric models will be able to recharge through online App booking Shell charging piles. In terms of services, the Kia brand App will be launched in the second half of this year as a comprehensive platform, covering all areas of automobile life, such as car purchase, car use, service, infotainment and so on.

According to CTOnews.com, Kia also released a new energy strategy, with a global sales target of 4.3 million vehicles in 2023, of which 1.6 million are pure electric models, and 15 pure electric models will be launched by 2027. In the Chinese market, Kia aims to sell 450000 vehicles in 2030, with new energy models accounting for 40 per cent. In terms of product planning, six pure electric models will be launched based on the E-GMP platform by 2027, including the flagship SUV-EV9 in 2024, the entry-level pure electric SUV in 2025, the high-end electric car based on the new generation electric vehicle platform in 2026 and a medium-sized pure electric SUV in 2027.
