On March 21, 2022, China Eastern Airlines Yunnan Co., Ltd. Boeing 737-800 (registration number BMY 1791) carried out MU5735 domestic regular passenger flights from Kunming Changshui Airport to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. The plane took off from Kunming Changshui Airport at 13:16. 64 minutes later, it deviated from its cruising altitude and made a rapid descent of 8900 meters. It crashed near Mojie Village, Jiannan Town, Teng County, Wuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region. All 123 passengers and nine crew members on board were killed.

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Civil Aviation regulations of China on Technical investigation of Civil aircraft incidents (CCAR-395) and Annex 13 of the International Civil Aviation Convention on aircraft Accidents and accident symptoms, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has carried out in-depth, meticulous and rigorous technical investigation of the accidents together with relevant departments. Over the past year, the technical investigation team conducted a detailed inspection of the wreckage of the aircraft, determined the possible working status of the key control components of the aircraft before landing, tested more than 100 pieces of important wreckage, and analyzed the causes of the damage; investigate the qualification and ability of crew members, flight operation, aircraft airworthiness maintenance, airline organization and management, etc. Carry out investigations on air traffic control services, airport ground support, security inspection and loading of passengers, luggage, cargo and mail, and the carriage of dangerous goods; analyze the flight status of the aircraft in the final stage with relevant data, and use flight simulators and real planes to carry out simulation verification.

Up to now, the technical investigation team has carried out a lot of work, such as on-site investigation, data inspection, personnel interviews, experimental analysis, and so on, but due to the complexity and rarity of this accident, the investigation is still in progress. In the follow-up, the technical investigation team will continue to carry out cause analysis and experimental verification on the basis of the previous work, and release relevant information in time according to the progress of the investigation.
