CTOnews.com March 18, Wemo, a smart home company owned by Belkin, a well-known accessories manufacturer, announced that it would suspend the development of Matter devices in order to re-examine its existing business and consider whether to adjust its development strategy.

In an interview with foreign technology media The Verge, Jen Wei, vice president of global communications and corporate development at Belkin, said: "Matter has had a significant positive impact on the smart home industry. The company needs to take a step back, regroup and consider its product development strategy."

Matter is a standard supported by Apple and other companies that can improve integration between smart home devices. It works with protocols such as HomeKit to allow devices from different companies to work together. WeMo may be looking for ways to introduce features that help it stay competitive and stand out.
