To this end, the British Space Agency announced today that it will provide 2.9 billion pounds (CTOnews.com Note: about 24.186 billion yuan) to Rolls-Royce to help it build a nuclear reactor on the moon. This is the second funding given to Rolls-Royce by BSA after providing 249,000 pounds for preliminary research last year.

Rolls-Royce engineers and scientists are developing a miniature nuclear reactor that is very suitable for use on the moon because it is small and can operate in any light or location. Currently, Rolls-Royce expects the miniature nuclear reactor to be sent to the moon in 2029.

Just two days ago, NASA and AXIOM Space released a new prototype spacesuit that will be worn by astronauts from Artemis III on the moon. Currently, NASA plans to launch Artemis III mission in December 2025, and plans to establish a base on the lunar surface.

More progress is likely to be made in the field of lunar travel over the next decade. Last month, the British Space Agency announced that it would provide 51 million pounds to British companies to build communications and navigation systems for future missions to the moon, as part of the European Space Agency's Moonlight Project. The plan aims to install satellites in lunar orbit and provide communications and security for future astronauts and probes.
