CTOnews.com, March 17 (Xinhua) according to a TechInsights research report, the size of Vietnam's smartphone market fell 30% in 2022 compared with the same period last year (CTOnews.com Note: this is the seventh consecutive year of decline in the market). Q4 is usually strong, but this year is an exception.

This sharp decline is attributed to economic headwinds, with high inflation leading to a decline in consumer demand. For export-oriented economies such as Vietnam, the downward trend has been exacerbated by the pressure of the global recession and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. While Vietnam is recovering from the COVID-19 epidemic, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has once again affected its supply.

In 2022 Q4, Samsung, Apple and OPPO are the top three smartphone manufacturers in Vietnam, with a market share of 32%, 20% and 19%, respectively. With the exception of Apple, sales of the top five smartphone makers in the market have all declined.

Although Samsung led the market in Vietnam in Q4 in 2022, it set a record for shipments in the past six quarters. Samsung shipments fell 27 per cent year-on-year. The Galaxy A series led shipments in the quarter.

Apple's quarterly shipments in Vietnam hit an all-time high in Q4 in 2022. The manufacturer's shipments increased by 22% compared with the same period last year. Apple's strong performance in the previous quarter confirmed the cyclical trend, with the iPhone 14 series driving its growth.

OPPO's smartphone shipments fell 34 per cent year-on-year. It recorded its lowest shipments in the past ten quarters. OPPO's shipments are dominated by Series A products.
