CTOnews.com, March 17 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft released a new script today that allows users to easily fix BitLocker bypass vulnerabilities in Windows recovery Environment (WinRE).

The vulnerability, numbered CVE-2022-41099, is exploited by an attacker to access the system storage device by bypassing the BitLocker device encryption function. The attacker can then access encrypted data in a low-complexity attack.

CTOnews.com reminds Microsoft that there are two versions of the new script released today, and users can decide which one to use based on the version of the system they are currently using.

One of the scripts is called "PatchWinREScript_2004plus.ps1" and security updates can be deployed on Win10 2004 and later, including Win11 systems.

The other script, called "PatchWinREScript_General.ps1", is not well fixed and can be used in Win10 1909 and earlier, but Win10 and Win11 systems can also be used.
