The scientific research station is located at the south pole of the moon and will be built into a basic type around 2028, and will gradually expand into an international lunar scientific research station.

Zou Yongliao, director of the General Department of Lunar and Deep Space Exploration of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy director of the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently revealed that the overall scientific and application objectives of the preliminary design of the International Lunar Research Station have five aspects, including lunar archaeology, sky exploration, sun-earth panorama, scientific experiments and resource utilization, China Science Daily reported.

At present, the scientific and application goal demonstration work of the International Lunar Research Station has not been completed, but phased progress has been made.

The deadline for application of letter of intent for Chang 'e-7 mission is February 1,2023. It is planned to complete preliminary selection in early April, collect proposals in early June, determine the load carried in early July, and confirm the interface in early September.
