CTOnews.com March 17 news, according to the latest list published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained a new patent on foldable mobile phones, which automatically folds the screen to minimize screen damage when detecting that the iPhone / iPad equipped with a flexible screen is in a dropped state.

The new patent is entitled "Self-retracting Display Device and Technology Using Drop Detection Protective Screen," and CTOnews.com translates part of the patent description as follows:

Mobile devices with foldable and scrollable displays can use sensors to detect vertical acceleration (e.g., acceleration relative to the ground) to determine whether the device is in a dropped state.

If the sensor detects that the mobile device has been dropped, the foldable device may be at least partially retracted to prevent the fragile display screen from hitting the ground.

A release mechanism of a hinged connection between a first display and a second display of the electronic device may be activated when the vertical acceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold. The reel device can be retracted automatically.
