CTOnews.com, March 17 (Xinhua)-- Amazon's game streaming platform Twitch is about to undergo a major personnel change, and the company's CEO Emmett Shear will resign after more than 16 years at Twitch and one of the founders of the platform.

CTOnews.com Note: Shear co-founded the live streaming platform Justin.tv, which was renamed Twitch in 2011 and quickly gained attention in the gaming community. Three years later, Twitch was acquired by Amazon for less than $1 billion.

Shear said in a blog post that Dan Clancy, the president who has worked at Twitch since 2019, would immediately take over as chief executive, adding that he would continue to serve as an adviser.

Twitch has come under fire in recent months for reducing the percentage of broadcasters who earn from subscriptions, and Constance Knight, the company's global creative director, left the company last year.

In September last year, the company changed its policy and announced that it would allow broadcasters to retain 70 per cent of their top $100000 in revenue, which would then be calculated on the basis of the standard 50 per cent share.
