Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, March 16 (Xinhua)-- today, Microsoft officially announced the launch of Microsoft 365Copilot,Microsoft 365Copilot, the next generation AI productivity technology, which is based on the large language model and is now open to some business users.
Copilot is used to assist users in generating documents, emails, presentations, etc., in Microsoft 365 applications and services. Driven by OpenAI's GPT-4 technology, it appears in the sidebar of Microsoft 365 applications like an assistant. As a chat robot, Office users can summon it at any time, generate text in documents, create PowerPoint presentations based on Word documents, and even help use functions such as PivotTable in Excel.
"it works with you and is embedded in apps that millions of people use every day: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and so on." "Copilot is a whole new way of working," said Jared Spataro, head of Microsoft 365.
Microsoft users will be able to summon Copilot to provide information about the upcoming Microsoft Teams meeting to help them keep abreast of project updates, organizational changes such as recent hiring, and even colleagues who have just returned from vacation. Copilot can also be summoned in Microsoft's Office app and draft documents based on other documents in Word. The user is then free to edit and adjust the text generated by AI. Because Copilot is essentially a chat robot, users can even ask it to create a 10-page slide presentation based on an Word document or analyze or format Excel data.
This means that Excel users can use Copilot to quickly create a SWOT analysis or data-based PivotTable. In Microsoft Teams, the Copilot function can transcribe the content of the meeting, remind you of what you may have missed if you are late for the meeting, and even summarize the action items during the meeting.
Copilot in Word, but Spataro also points out that Copilot is not always right. "sometimes Copilot gets it right, sometimes it makes mistakes, giving you an idea that is not perfect but still gives you a clue." Spataro said at today's Microsoft AI event.
Copilot will also exist in Outlook, where users can spend less time deleting and replying to emails, and Copilot can summarize email threads, even create draft replies, and provide options to adjust the tone or length of emails.
Copilot can generate a PowerPoint presentation for you Spataro says: "to build Copilot, we don't just connect ChatGPT to Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 Copilot is driven by what we call the Copilot system." This system combines Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint with data and intelligent Microsoft Graph and GPT-4.
Copilot uses grounding to improve the quality of a given prompt. If you ask Word to create a document based on your data, Copilot will send the prompt to Microsoft Graph to retrieve the context and data, then modify the prompt and send it to the GPT-4 large language model. The response is then sent to Microsoft Graph for additional grounding, security, and compliance checks, and then the response and commands are sent back to the Microsoft 365 application.
Microsoft also plans to launch a Business Chat feature across Microsoft 365 data and applications. It uses Microsoft Graph2 to integrate documents, presentations, e-mails, notes, and contacts into a single chat interface in Microsoft Teams to generate summaries, plan overview, and so on. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella unveiled the new AI Copilot at a special AI productivity event this morning.
Microsoft said it was currently testing its Microsoft Copilot with 20 customers and would expand its preview in the coming months. "We will share more information about pricing and details in the coming months." Microsoft said in a blog post today. It is not clear when consumers will experience the Microsoft 365Copilot feature.
Copilot can create Outlook emails for you. People will certainly be worried about the speed of Microsoft's innovation and the accuracy of its AI model, especially if Microsoft 365users are likely to use them to process business data in the coming months.
"We clearly illustrate how the system makes decisions by pointing out limitations, linking to sources, and prompting users to review, verify and adjust content based on expertise," Spataro said in a blog post today.
CTOnews.com noted that Microsoft recently laid off the ethics and social team within the artificial intelligence organization, which has been working to identify the risks posed by Microsoft's adoption of the OpenAI language model in its software and services. This has made some people inside and outside Microsoft worry about the speed of the AI driver software, but Spataro does not share these concerns. "in order to meet the unmet needs of our customers, we must act quickly and responsibly and learn as we move forward." "We are testing Copilot with a small number of customers to get feedback and improve our model, and as we grow in size, we will soon expand to more customers," Spataro said.
