CTOnews.com, March 16, according to Windows Central, the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced nine companies' responses to Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, including Microsoft and Activision Blizzard itself, and six of the other seven companies said they were in favor of the deal.

Can you guess which one disagrees? Yes, it's Sony. In its response, Sony reiterated its position that the "call of Duty" is an important factor in competition in the mainframe market. Sony also continues to claim that "Microsoft has an incentive to limit" the call of mission "to other platforms", citing "Microsoft's past acquisitions" as evidence. In fact, however, this week alone, Microsoft has reached agreements with several cloud gaming platforms such as Boosteroid and Ubitus to bring call of Duty to other platforms.

In sharp contrast, another (smaller) third-party developer, 4J Studios, said in its response: "We believe that Activision Blizzard's acquisition is only part of the natural evolution of the industry and does not bring any concern to our own future opportunities."

CMA is currently conducting a second-phase investigation into the acquisition. In its interim conclusions last month, CMA determined that the merger could hurt competition and would reach a final conclusion on the deal by April 26.

Microsoft announced in January last year that it would buy Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion in cash, a deal expected to close next spring if approved by regulators and shareholders.
