Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com March 16, Microsoft Teams first introduced 3x3 grid view support in 2020, allowing users to see up to nine video windows on the screen. However, 3x3 video view is not the default setting for the Teams Web version, and currently supports up to four video windows on the screen. But that will soon change.

Microsoft is currently developing a new feature for Web Teams users to make the 3x3 video window view the default. This means that when users use Teams on browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, they will no longer need to take explicit action to view nine video windows on the screen.

Microsoft's Teams desktop client, on the other hand, supports 7x7 video view as the default, which means that up to 49 video windows can be displayed on the screen during Teams meetings. If the number of participants exceeds 49, you can see the remaining number in the next gallery view. Holding a Teams meeting on a Web browser is similar. Although the 3x3 video view will soon become the default in the Web version of Teams, you can see more participants on the next page of the gallery view. (CTOnews.com Note: at present, you can add up to 250 people to a Teams meeting)

On the Microsoft 365 roadmap page, Microsoft mentioned that it will make 3x3 video view the default setting for Teams for web browsers in May. Microsoft also mentioned that Chrome and Edge browsers will support automatic viewing of up to nine video windows (3x3), but did not specify whether other web browsers support this feature.
