Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, March 16 (Xinhua) the trade-in activity on Apple's official website does not provide you with the highest second-hand recycling price, but it can be said to be a reliable and convenient recycling service. So what did Apple do after it recycled these old iPhone, iPad and other products?
In its latest report, the Wall Street Journal interviewed USMP, Apple's recycling partner in the United States, and recorded the entire recycling process of the phone by video. CTOnews.com learned from the report that USMP handled more than 2.5 million new-for-clunkers last year, most of which were iPhone.
During the visit, USMP has just received 3000 trade-in iPhone. Wall Street Journal reporter Joanna followed the whole process and found that it had gone through four key steps: data erasing, cleaning, grading and matching.
The report says that 2/3 of the phones cleaned by USMP will be erased, cleaned and sold to wholesalers, usually overseas. Another 1/3 is handed over to sister company Back in the Box to clean up, renovate and sell to buyers in Amazon or Back Market, the popular second-hand mobile phone market.
