CTOnews.com, March 16 (Xinhua) according to the latest industry report released by market research firm PodNews, Apple Podcasts has surpassed Spotify to become the most popular podcast app for creators in the world.

The survey polled more than 260 million subscribers and 135podcast creators. Apple Podcasts's platform score rose from 3.2to 3.7and Spotify's rating rose from 3.3to 3.5points.

Another noteworthy change is that podcast creators are becoming increasingly disappointed with Google Podcasts, probably because Google Podcast hasn't seen any new features this year. On the other hand, there is a lot of uncertainty about Google's plans to adjust its podcast business and incorporate it into YouTube.

CTOnews.com also noted that the highest rating for the platform was Overcast, which rose again to 4.5 from 4.3 last year. PodNews said that this is the same as in previous years, many creators give Overcast a high score, so they do not include it at the top of the mainstream platform rankings.

Overcast is an iOS application developed by Marco Arment for downloading and playing podcasts. Several journalists commented on it positively, with both The Verge and The Sweet Setup naming it the best iOS podcast listening app for 2015 and beyond.
