Thank you, Mr. Air, a netizen of CTOnews.com, for your clue delivery! CTOnews.com, March 15 (Xinhua)-- Intel Corp. has offered thousands of employees at its Irish plant an extended unpaid leave program for three months in an effort to further cut costs, BusinessPost reported.

It is reported that the company will provide subsidies of several thousand euros to up to 2000 employees to encourage them to take 12 weeks of unpaid leave in the second quarter. Manufacturing staff at the chipmaker's campus in Lexlip were told yesterday that the chipmaker would offer voluntary unpaid leave (VEL) in the second quarter of 2023. The company offered the plan to its employees in the first three months of this year.

According to CTOnews.com, Intel is one of the largest private employers in Ireland, with about 5000 employees. The company said the plan was designed to cope with fluctuations in market demand and would not affect its long-term commitment in Ireland.
