As appealing as the new Canary channel is to Windows enthusiasts, it has one problem: Dev versions automatically upgrade to Canary and there is no downgrade option. So Microsoft is now giving away USB drives for free so users can go back to their original channels without buying additional hardware.

Microsoft has sent an email with a link to Windows Insider who needs a USB drive to pick up a free USB drive on this page. CTOnews.com needs to point out that only Windows Insider can participate in the giveaway event (you need to get a unique code from the email to get a free USB drive). Microsoft points out that the number of USB drives is limited and the event follows a "first come, first served" principle, so if you want a free USB drive from Microsoft, please act quickly.

Another caveat is that it may take 6-8 weeks to receive the USB stick, which means that Canary Channel will update several versions. So for those who aren't happy with Canary Channel's new feature changes, buying an 8GB USB drive in the store may be a better option.
