Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thank you, Mr. Air, a netizen of CTOnews.com, for your clue delivery! CTOnews.com, March 15 (Xinhua)-- Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor have reached a partnership to develop and mass-produce key chips for the latter's Advanced driving Assistance system (ADAS). This is the first time that the two companies have jointly signed a contract for commissioned design and contract manufacturing of semiconductors.
The System LSI sub-division of Samsung Electronic device Solutions (DS) became a second-tier supplier of Hyundai's CMOS image sensors (CIS) at the end of last year.
Hyundai Motor required the development of ADAS master chips, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) chips and connection chips to ensure the interconnection between the two chips, and delivered the required specifications to Samsung.
These chips will be based on Samsung's 5-nanometer process. CTOnews.com learned from the report that Samsung started developing ADAS core chips in October last year and will take the lead in delivering them.
"these chips, designed and produced by Samsung, are expected to be installed in Hyundai luxury cars around 2025-2026," said a person familiar with the matter.
