CTOnews.com, March 14 (Xinhua)-- Internet security company SpyCloud released its 2023 identity disclosure report, revealing the severity of online data leaks in 2022. According to the report, the company's researchers found 721.5 million leaked passwords online, half of which came from botnets (CTOnews.com note: computer networks infected by malware and controlled by hackers to deploy malware that steals information).

More worryingly for Tu Yuan Pixabay, the study found that 72% of users exposed in data breaches in 2022 are still reusing previously compromised passwords. There are other interesting findings, such as more than 327000 disclosed passwords related to Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny, 261000 related to streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu, and more than 167000 related to the death of the British royal family and Queen Elizabeth.

The study also found that 8.6 billion personally identifiable information assets were exposed in 2022. These include 1.4 billion full names, 332 million national identity cards / complete social security numbers and 67 million credit card numbers.
