CTOnews.com, March 14 (Xinhua)-- Google announced today that it will open its PaLM API to allow developers to use one of its most advanced AI language models: PaLM. The company has also launched a number of artificial intelligence enterprise tools that will help companies "generate text, images, code, video, audio and other content through simple natural language prompts".

According to CTOnews.com, PaLM is a large language model (LLM), similar to the GPT series developed by OpenAI or the LLaMA series developed by Meta. Google first announced PaLM in April 2022. Like other LLM, PaLM is a flexible and versatile system that can perform a variety of text generation and editing tasks. For example, you can train PaLM to be a chat robot (such as ChatGPT), or you can use it for tasks such as text summarization or writing code.

To make it easier for developers to train PaLM to perform specific tasks, Google has also launched a new application: MakerSuite. "with MakerSuite, you can iterate over prompts, enhance your datasets with composite data, and easily adjust custom models," the company said in a press release. Google says this fine-tuning can be done in a browser-while Google handles a lot of computing resources for training and deployment.

In addition to launching PaLM API, Google has also expanded its Vertex AI platform's support for generative AI technology. The platform is designed to help enterprises train and deploy machine learning models. The company says Vertex will be able to use more models built by Google Research and its AI subsidiary DeepMind, and will be able to access open source and third-party systems in the future.

Finally, Google launched a new platform called generative artificial Intelligence Application Generator (Generative AI App Builder). The platform "allows developers to quickly launch new experiences, including robots, chat interfaces, custom search engines, digital assistants and so on," the company said. Developers can access Google's basic model through API and can use out-of-the-box templates to start the creation of generative applications in minutes or hours.

All of these are enterprise-centric, but it is also a major move by Google to put more artificial intelligence tools into the hands of more companies, and PaLM API will promote new artificial intelligence development in 2023.
