The real-time quantum key distribution at 100 megabit rate is realized internationally for the first time, and the experimental results increase the previous bitrate record by an order of magnitude. CTOnews.com learned from the official website of the University of Science and Technology of China that Pan Jianwei and Xu Feihu developed a high-speed and high-fidelity polarization modulation technology on an integrated photon chip, with a repetition rate of 2.5 GHz and a qubit error rate of better than 0.35%. Combined with the latest eight-pixel SNSPD developed by you Lixing team of Shanghai Institute of Microsystems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, single-photon detection with high counting rate and high efficiency is realized, and the detection efficiency can be maintained at 62% when 550 million photons per second are inputted. At the same time, the research group developed polarization feedback control, high-speed post-processing module and so on. On the basis of the above technological breakthroughs, the research team achieved a key rate of 115.8 Mb / s under 10 km standard optical fiber channel, which is about an order of magnitude higher than the previous record. the system has been running stably for more than 50 hours and the bit rate is more than 200b / s at a transmission distance of 328km. The above research results show that QKD can realize real-time key distribution at 100 megabit rate and meet the needs of high-bandwidth communication, which is of great significance for large-scale practical applications of quantum communication in the future.
