CTOnews.com, March 13 (Xinhua)-- Tesla faces "criminal" charges on suspicion of water pollution and environmental crimes at the Berlin superfactory, and environmentalists accuse the carmaker of "disrupting the ecological balance," according to Electrek.

For years, Tesla has been battling German environmentalists who are trying to stop or slow the construction and production of the Berlin superfactory. One of their main concerns from the beginning is the impact on the water in the region. In order to build the factory, Tesla had to cut down trees and destroy the environment of the previously undamaged area. The company has made some adjustments to help allay the concerns of environmentalists, which does not seem to be enough. Even long after the factory started producing electric cars, environmentalists often challenge them.

Now they have gone a step further by "filing criminal proceedings" against Tesla, and the Brandenburg Nature and Landscape Association has submitted three "criminal proceedings" to the Frankfurt (Ord) District Prosecutor's Office, two of which are against Tesla.

The first charge alleges that Tesla's foundation piles may have come into contact with groundwater, which may have contaminated the groundwater. The second charge is against Sasagem, the first deputy mayor and head of the construction, order and environment department of the Oder-Shipley district, who claimed that he lacked supervision and control over Tesla's construction project. The last charge is against Tesla again, accusing Tesla of starting the "Tesla-Nan" class station project at the Berlin superfactory site before formally obtaining construction permission.
