CTOnews.com March 13, Nissan recently announced a recall of some 2023 Ariya electric SUV models in the United States because the steering wheel of these vehicles may fall off while driving.

This situation can pose a great danger to driving, so Nissan advises car owners to check whether the steering wheel is secure and contact the dealer immediately if they find any signs of loosening.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall report, Nissan requires car owners to gently shake the steering wheel with their hands to see if there is any loosening. If so, the company advises car owners to "send the vehicle to the dealer for recall and repair as soon as possible."

According to CTOnews.com, a total of 1063 vehicles were involved in the recall, but Nissan said only 0.18% (about 2 cars) could actually have a loose steering wheel. Nissan said the reason for the loosening or even falling off of the steering wheel was that a steering wheel bolt "may not have been properly tightened or installed". The company said dealers would replace bolts for affected car owners free of charge.

So far, Nissan has not received any reports of accidents or injuries caused by the problem. But the company mentioned in the report that it had received three reports of loose Ariya steering wheels from dealers. The company added that the affected models had changed the steering wheel at the port due to another problem, but Nissan did not elaborate on this.

It is worth mentioning that Tesla Model Y was also investigated by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) because the steering wheel fell off while driving, which may need to be recalled.
