According to the latest ATX 3.0 V2.01 specification, Intel is preparing to revise the design of 12+4Pin 's ATX 12VHPWR power interface (especially the public port) to improve interface adaptability and minimize potential fire risk caused by incorrect insertion.

From the design drawing released, we can see that the pin of the public port has been changed from "Dimple" joint to "Spring" joint. This design change makes the public port more durable and can resist the tension caused by the bending of the cable.

In addition, ATX 3.0 V2.01 also optimizes the duty cycle of peak load tests, and the duty cycle time has been reduced by more than half. For example, the duty cycle of 200% peak decreased from 10% to 5%, and the second peak duty cycle of 180% decreased from 20% to 8%.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Nvidia said it only knew about 50 accidents, and the company also provided a brief guide on how to properly use the new 12+4Pin power interface. They believe that danger can occur when the power cord connector is not fully plugged in, as confirmed by GamersNexus tests.

In addition, the PCI-SIG organization has issued a notice requiring the submission of a new 12VHPWR cable design by December 6, 2022.
