CTOnews.com March 13 news, China Unicom official said today, active layout of the RISC-V field, formally joined the CRVIC alliance in March this year.

China Unicom said that the CRVIC Alliance (CTOnews.com Note: China RISC-V Industry Consortium, China RISC-V Industry Alliance) is a highly influential organization in the domestic RISC-V field.

According to reports, the alliance is a national, non-profit community organization co-founded in Shanghai on September 20, 2018 by key enterprises, universities, research institutes, investment institutions and social organizations in the field of RISC-V at home and abroad under the guidance and support of the Shanghai Economic and Information Commission, the National Integrated Circuit Innovation Center, and the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Association.

The goal of the alliance is to accelerate the organizational research and development of domestic RISC-V industry, establish an independent, controllable and secure RISC-V computing platform made in China, and promote the formation of an ecological chain of RISC-V industry that runs through IP core, chip, software, system, application and other links.

China Unicom pointed out that RISC-V is an open instruction set architecture (ISA) based on reduced instruction set computing (RISC) principle, which can be applied to the required devices free of charge. RISC-V has been widely used in the field of IoT because of its advantages such as openness and low power consumption. With the continuous improvement of the capability of RISC-V, it will be deeply combined with 5G technology and gradually applied to 5G IoT products including RedCap.
