Taiwan media pointed out that this year, due to weak demand in the end market and continuous inventory adjustment in the supply chain, production capacity has been significantly loosened, and the utilization rate of capacity in the first quarter of the world is likely to be 10 percentage points lower than that in the fourth quarter of last year. Liji Power will drop to more than 60%, and UMC will also drop to 70% in the first quarter.

Most of the IC design factories said that the foundry did not reduce the foundry price, but the manufacturers offered a discount for customers who cooperate with pre-production, which is equivalent to a price reduction in disguise, depending on the volume of the film.

IC designers predict that as chip factories gradually complete multiple capacity layouts, the wafer foundry market will change from a seller's market to a buyer's market, and wafer foundry quotations will probably face pressure in the future.

According to SEMI, the global shipping area of semiconductor silicon wafers is 14.713 billion square inches in 2022, an increase of 3.9% over 2021; total revenue of silicon wafers is $13.8 billion (CTOnews.com Note: about 95.772 billion yuan currently), up 9.5% from the same period last year.
