CTOnews.com, March 12 (Xinhua)-- Apple may add hearing health to its AirPods wireless headphones in the next year or two, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Mr Gurman said he thought Apple would "upgrade AirPods to become a health tool in the next year or two" and "increase its ability to access certain listening data".

According to CTOnews.com, Apple has added listening-focused features to the AirPods in recent years, such as Live Listen and Conversation Boost, but Gurman points out that these features have not yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are not designed to replace hearing aids. Given Apple's health goals, he expects AirPods to assume such functions "more formally" in the near future.

Apple analyst Guo Mingyi has previously stressed that the company intends to add biometric health monitoring to its future AirPods. One of Apple's patents describes a fitness monitoring system based on headphones, which integrates an advanced biometric sensor. physiological indicators, including body temperature, heart rate and sweat equality, can be detected through skin contact and built-in motion sensors. Kevin Lynch, Apple's vice president of technology, has also hinted that AirPods could be a source of additional health data in the future.

New hearing health features do not have to rely on future new AirPods, as existing models already include the speakers and microphones needed to support these features, which can be pushed to existing devices through firmware updates.
