CTOnews.com, March 12 (Xinhua)-- Humane, a startup founded by former Apple design and engineering executives Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bethany Bongiorno, has raised $230 million without a single customer (CTOnews.com Note: about 1.598 billion yuan).

Humane announced that it recently received an investment of US $100 million as part of a new round of financing. Round C includes investments from Microsoft, OpenAI founder Sam Altman, Volvo and LG, bringing Humane's total financing to $230 million. So far, they have been secretive about the products they plan to develop, but according to a sales brochure leaked in 2021, the company appears to be developing a wearable camera device.

The couple's co-founders, who were longtime Apple executives, left in 2016. Chaudley was the design director of Apple's man-machine interface team, which focuses on the user experience of Apple devices. Bongiono used to be the head of Apple's operating system.

Patrick Gates, Apple's former senior engineering director, was also an early employee of Humane and is now the company's chief technology officer. Humane has also hired dozens of former Apple employees to join the team, including those who were responsible for the design of iPhone touchscreen keyboards and Apple industrial elements, as well as those involved in the development of Apple service infrastructure such as iCloud, Apple Pay and Home.

Chaudhry and Bongiono say the company is not yet ready to make its work public, but plans to launch a product that integrates artificial intelligence into consumer devices this spring.
