CTOnews.com, March 11 (Xinhua)-- Forspoken, an open-world parkour exploration game released by Square Enix in January this year, has received mixed reviews from Steam because of its high price, high configuration requirements and boring content.

According to the latest news from Square Enix, the company said in its financial results briefing in February that sales of "Forspoken" were lower than expected.

Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda (who is about to resign, see CTOnews.com 's previous report) acknowledged that game sales were "lacklustre" and said there were "considerable downside risks to earnings for fiscal year 2023".

However, Square Enix also said the game has also received positive feedback on its action features, including parkour and combat capabilities, which will help improve the development capabilities of other games in the future.

For subsequent plans, Square Enix will merge "Forspoken" developer Luminous Productions into the company on May 1. Before that, Luminous Productions will spend the rest of its time developing patches to improve the overall performance of the game and to develop DLC "In Tanta We Trust".
