CTOnews.com According to Tweaktown, SSD vendor Sabrent is working closely with host vendors to develop a new PCIe Gen 5 SSD family that can increase read speeds to 14000 MB/s.

Sabrent is testing and developing the new Rocket X5 Gen 5 SSD, the latest running points as shown in the above figure, the current sequential read speed has exceeded 12000MB/s, sequential write speed close to 12000MB/s.

Sabrent noted that current technology limits the Rocket X5 Gen 5 SSD to the 14000 MB/s target, which the vendor expects to be achieved at a later date.

There are several PCIe 5.0 SSDs available, but they only have speeds of 10000MB/s. Only one model of Gigahawk 510K is listed in China, with a reading speed of 10000 MB/s and 2TB 2699 yuan.

Shiquan Technology recently released the T-FORCE CARDEA Z540 M.2 PCIe 5.0 solid state drive, which adopts PCIe Gen 5x4 interface and supports NVMe2.0 protocol. It claims that the read and write speed can reach 12000/10000MB/s and will be sold globally from the second quarter of 2023.

As you can see, PCIe 5.0 will be available in the 10000MB/s version first, followed by the 12000MB/s upgrade version, and then the 14000MB/s mature version.
