Foreign technology media The Drive subsequently confirmed from a Ford spokesman that the configuration had been removed.

CTOnews.com translated Ford spokesman's statement as follows: "many markets and automakers around the world are promoting a more modern radio experience, and car owners can get a streaming audio experience through mobile applications, FM or digital means."

The Mustang became the second Ford model to remove the AM radio function after the 2023 FMI 150 Lightning.

Carmakers say electromagnetic interference can cause static electricity and noise in AM transmissions, annoying customers. Broadcasters say they may lose contact with their core listeners, who rely on radio to respond to emergencies.
