CTOnews.com, March 10 (Xinhua)-- Samsung Electronics re-launched OLED TVs in the Korean market on Thursday, the first OLED TVs launched by the company in its home market in the past 10 years. Samsung Electronics previously thought that the profitability of OLED TVs was low and withdrew from the market, resulting in the current South Korean OLED TV market dominated by LG.

Samsung last launched OLED TV in South Korea in 2013, and later chose to withdraw from the OLED TV market because of its technology, yield, profitability and other factors. Samsung turned to Neo QLED TVs in South Korea, which is based on an enhanced version of LCD.

Samsung is the world's largest TV supplier, but 60% of the world's OLED TVs come from LG. CTOnews.com shares Omdia's data as follows: OLED TVs accounted for about 6.5 million of the world's 203 million TV shipments last year. Global OLED market revenue shrank 13.6% in 2022, but the agency expects the OLED TV market to grow to $12.5 billion this year, up 12.3% from a year earlier.

Samsung's OLED TV launched in South Korea comes in three sizes: 77 inches, 65 inches and 55 inches. Of these, the 77-inch OLED model sells for 7.99 million won (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 42107 yuan).
