The app, officially called "Apple Music Classical", shows "coming soon" and is expected to be launched on March 28, 2023. Users can book the app now so that they can download it as soon as it is officially launched. The app is included free of charge as part of Apple Music.

Apple said in an interview with TechCrunch that the new Apple Music Classical app will provide Apple Music users with more than 5 million classical music tracks, including new versions of high-quality audio, hundreds of well-orchestrated playlists, thousands of exclusive albums, and other features such as composer profiles and in-depth mining of key works.

In 2021, Apple announced that it had acquired Primephonic, a classical music streaming service, and would include it in Apple Music. Primephonic provides an "excellent auditory experience" with search and browsing features optimized for classical music, carefully selected recommendations and "background details of tracks and recordings".

Apple said that with the acquisition of Primephonic, Apple Music users will have a better classical music experience.
