Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Xiao Zhan for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com March 9, CTOnews.com learned from the official website of Tsinghua University that Professor Ren Tianling of Tsinghua University and his team recently published an innovation in the journal Natural Machine Intelligence: they used graphene material to create an intelligent wearable artificial throat, which can help laryngectomy patients regain a new sound. This kind of artificial larynx can sense the signal of the wearer's throat and recognize and synthesize it into speech through artificial intelligence model, and the accuracy of reduction is more than 90%.
According to reports, the artificial throat is a piece of graphene the size of a coin, affixed to the neck near the throat. It has high sensitivity and anti-noise performance, and can capture low-frequency muscle movement, intermediate-frequency esophageal vibration and high-frequency acoustic information, and convert it into sound playback through thermoacoustic effect. The experimental results show that the artificial larynx can recognize the daily words vaguely spoken by patients and synthesize them into clear speech, which is still effective in the environment of more than 60 decibels. The decibel of our daily communication environment is about 60 decibels.
According to Ren Tianling, the artificial throat has the advantages of simple production process, stable performance and easy integration, which provides a new hardware platform for speech recognition and interaction.
However, the artificial throat still has a lot of room for optimization and expansion, such as improving sound quality and volume, increasing voice diversity and expression, and combining other physiological signals and environmental information to achieve more natural and intelligent voice interaction. The research team hopes to benefit more people with voice disorders and voice interaction users through further research and cooperation.
