CTOnews.com, March 9, according to the official website of the China Communications Standardization Association, the 7th meeting of the Aerospace Communication system working Group (TC12 WG1) of the Aerospace Communications Technology working Committee was successfully held in Beijing on February 24, 2023.

The China Communications Standardization Association said that the meeting focused on the approval of the "5G-based satellite Internet part 1: general requirements" industry standard application. The standard is led by China Satellite Network Group Co., Ltd., China Telecom Group Co., Ltd., China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., China Satong Group Co., Ltd., China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd., China Information and Communications Research Institute jointly led by more than a dozen related units to jointly promote China's satellite Internet standardization research based on 5G.

According to reports, the standard project is expected to complete the overall technical specification of satellite Internet based on 5G, and will take the technical standard of terrestrial mobile communication network and 3GPP R17 NTN as the standard baseline to form the overall technical specification including core network, carrier network, access network, and operation and maintenance system. The research of this standard will promote the scale application of mobile terminals directly connected to satellites, IoT access and other important scenarios, and effectively guide the construction and operation of satellite Internet.
