CTOnews.com March 9 news, TrendForce Jibang Consulting released a report today that as on Mae, Infineon and other cooperation projects with automobile and energy manufacturers become clear, the overall market output value of SiC power components in 2023 will reach 2.28 billion US dollars (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 15.869 billion yuan), an increase of 41.4 percent over the same period last year.

The report points out that the third generation semiconductors include silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), and SiC accounts for 80% of the overall output value. SiC is suitable for high voltage and high current applications, and can further improve the efficiency of electric vehicles and renewable energy equipment systems.

According to TrendForce Jibang Consulting, the top two applications of SiC power components are electric vehicles and renewable energy, which have reached $1.09 billion (currently about 7.586 billion yuan) and $210 million (currently about 1.462 billion yuan) in 2022, accounting for about 67.4% and 13.1% of the overall SiC power component market output.

CTOnews.com learned from the TrendForce Jibang Consulting report that the market output value of SiC power components is expected to reach US $5.33 billion (currently about RMB 37.097 billion) by 2026. Mainstream applications still rely on electric vehicles and renewable energy, with an output value of $3.98 billion (currently about 27.701 billion yuan), CAGR (a compound annual growth rate) of about 38 percent, renewable energy of $410 million (currently about 2.854 billion yuan) and CAGR of about 19 percent.
