According to reports, Samsung Electronics DSA last month issued a notice to all staff, saying that "due to economic instability, plans to cut staff by 3%." It is understood that the total number of employees of DSA is 1200, about more than 30 people will be laid off.

Reported that Samsung Electronics took layoffs measures, because the global economic recession led to reduced demand, the semiconductor industry as a whole into the doldrums.

Samsung Electronics' semiconductor division's operating profit in the fourth quarter of last year was 270 billion won (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1.426 billion yuan), down 96.9 percent from the same period in 2021. In the first quarter of this year, the South Korean semiconductor giant is expected to run a deficit of about 2 trillion won.

By comparison, Intel had sales of $14 billion (97.44 billion yuan) and an operating loss of $700 million (4.872 billion yuan) in the fourth quarter of last year, the company's worst quarterly results in 50 years. Intel announced thousands of layoffs at the end of last year to cut costs because it is expected to continue to run a deficit in the first quarter of 2023.
