The China Communications Enterprises Association announced that in order to further promote the accelerated large-scale commercial use of 5G messages, strengthen the formulation of standards for 5G messaging groups, explore regional pilot construction and authorized service models, explore the implementation of the "blooming Cup" and the "5G messaging Joint Laboratory" to promote application landing, and discuss the next work plan, the 5G messaging working Group decided to hold a symposium of the governing units of the 2023 5G messaging working Group on March 10.

According to reports, the topics of this meeting include the introduction of the key work of the 5G messaging working Group in 2023; the introduction of the development measures of the basic operators'5G messaging service in 2023; the introduction of blooming cup, group standards and laboratory evaluation; the introduction of regional pilot and authorized service programs; and the development and exchange of the industry.

The so-called 5G message is actually an information service system based on GSMA RCS UP standard. Through the introduction of MaaP technology, the message can be multimedia, lightweight and interactive.

As the upgrade of short message service, the content of 5G message transmission not only includes text, picture, audio, video, location, contact person and other information, but also can provide rich services such as payment, comment, shopping, such as buying tickets, checking express logistics, hospital registration, coal, electricity, water and gas payment and other applications, but 5G message does not need to be downloaded and installed, it is a part of the terminal like SMS.

Features of 5G messages: ① breaks the length limit of traditional SMS messages to achieve the integration of text, pictures, audio and video, and facial expressions; ② supports online payment, online and offline messages; ③ can initiate group messages and group chats at any time without adding friends.

According to the latest data of the three major operators, the total number of 5G package subscribers of the three major operators exceeded 1.1 billion as of January 2023, according to Tu Yuan Pexels.

Among them, the total number of China Mobile customers was 975.5 million, a net increase of 503000, and the number of 5G package customers was 622.47 million.

China Unicom has 872.75 million "big connection" users, including 215.795 million users of the 5G package and 395.41 million terminal connections of the Internet of things.

The number of mobile subscribers of China Telecom increased by 1.13 million to a total of 392 million, of which the number of 5G package subscribers increased by 5.03 million to 273 million.

In addition, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong said a few days ago that China now has more than 575 million 5G mobile phone users, a further increase compared with the CTOnews.com report last month, and China has built and opened about 2.34 million 5G base stations, realizing county-to-county access to 5G.
